You’re investing in yourself & are saving up for cosmetic surgery. It is equally important to invest in your after-care for post-surgical swelling if you want optimum results from your plastic surgery. Manual Lymphatic Drainage Therapy (MLD) by a certified MLD therapist can give you those optimum results.
MLD is:
–the best way to have a quick recovery
–gentle!
–done without lotions or oils
–a skin-stretching therapy to draw lymphatic fluid toward the throat
–a way to decrease swelling/bloating/bruising/pain/scarring
–a great way to boost your immune system
MLD is not:
–painful
–massage
–touching or opening up incisions
–illegally squeezing blood or fluids out of the body (incisional drainage)
–fluid aspiration using a needle (only a dr or nurse can do that!!)
–sliding hands down your torso from ribs to fupa
–using machines that cause heat/inflammation and delay healing
If someone gave you a painful treatment and called it “lymphatic massage” or “incisional drainage”, you did not go to a certified professional. Only have sessions with a Certified Manual Lymphatic Drainage Therapist, someone with the letters CMLDT or MLD-C after their name, or with a Certified Lymphedema Therapist, someone with the letters CLT after their name. You should schedule your first MLD session 3-4 days after surgery. I work around plastic drainage tubes/cups, scars & incisions. You will need MLD 2x/week for up to 6 weeks, although some clients are finished after 3 weeks. Some clients call me for their first session several weeks or months after surgery when they are experiencing lumps and fibrosis at the surgical site. This is very late, makes my job harder, and delays your overall healing by several weeks. It is very important to start MLD after-care right away. If you do get fibrotic lumps, I do Myofascial Release for several sessions just on those areas to help them flatten, & if the lumps are stubborn, I will sell you a Lymphpad to wear against your skin. My clients love it & it really helps flatten lumps quickly. I will give you lots of tips on what you can do at home to help your swelling go down faster.
